# Date ranges, comparisons and filters

Pick a range, compare it with the period before, and narrow every report to one channel, page, country or goal.

Every report in a site's dashboard reads the same three settings: the date range, the comparison switch and the filters. They live in the header above each page and in the page URL, so a link you copy opens the same view for a teammate.

## Date ranges

The date control offers these presets:

| Preset | Range |
|---|---|
| Today | Today so far |
| 7d | The last 7 days, ending today |
| 30d | The last 30 days, ending today (the default) |
| 90d | The last 90 days, ending today |
| 12mo | The last 12 months, ending today |
| Custom | Any start and end date you pick |

Ranges are whole days in the site's reporting time zone, which you set in Settings → General. Changing the time zone recomputes the preset ranges in the new zone.

The chart picks its interval from the length of the range:

| Range length | Chart interval |
|---|---|
| 1 day | Hour |
| Up to 120 days | Day |
| Up to 400 days | Week |
| Longer | Month |

> [!NOTE]
> How far back you can look depends on your plan: 30 days on Free, 365 days on Starter, and the full history of the site on Growth and Scale. See [Plans and limits](/docs/account/plans-and-limits).

## Comparisons

Turn on comparison to see every number next to the previous period of the same length. A 30-day range ending today is compared with the 30 days before it; a custom range of 12 days is compared with the 12 days immediately before its start. The header shows "vs prev" while comparison is on, and the overview tiles and chart show both periods.

## Filters

Click a row in a breakdown table (a channel, a source, a page, a country) to filter the whole dashboard to it. Active filters appear as chips under the header; remove one with its close control. Filters combine, so `channel = paid` and `country = DE` shows paid traffic from Germany.

You can filter by:

| Filter | Matches |
|---|---|
| `channel` | The channel ProductLense classified the visit into, such as `paid` or `organic_search` |
| `source`, `medium`, `campaign` | The `utm_source`, `utm_medium` and `utm_campaign` values |
| `ref_domain` | The referring domain, without `www.` |
| `path` | A page path |
| `country` | Two-letter country code |
| `device`, `browser`, `os` | From the user agent |
| `goal` | Visitors who completed a goal in the range |

Revenue and profit columns follow the same filters: ProductLense restricts payments to the visitors whose traffic matches, using first-touch attribution for channel, source, medium and campaign.

> [!NOTE]
> Visitor counts are approximate for large sets: about 0.8% for site totals and device, browser and country breakdowns, and about 1.6% for pages and sources. Counts below a few hundred are exact. [How ProductLense counts](/docs/get-started/how-productlense-counts) explains why.
