# Exclude your own visits

Open your site once with ?pl_ignore=1, or use the switch in Settings → Exclusions, and your browser stops sending visits to ProductLense.

Your own visits to your site, while you test a page or check a deploy, would otherwise count like anyone else's. ProductLense lets you switch them off per browser, with no code change.

## Turn it on

Either:

- In the ProductLense dashboard, open the site's Settings → Exclusions and turn on **Ignore my visits on this browser**. It opens your site in a new tab once, which sets the flag.
- Or open any page of your site with `?pl_ignore=1` added to the address, such as `https://example.com/?pl_ignore=1`.

The script stores `pl_ignore = "true"` in that browser's local storage for your site and removes the parameter from the address bar. From then on nothing is sent from that browser: no pageviews, no events and no `identify`.

The setting lives in one browser on one device. Do it again in every browser, profile and device you use, and on each of your sites' domains.

## Turn it off

Open your site with `?pl_ignore=0`, or turn the switch off in Settings → Exclusions. Clearing your browser's site data for your domain also removes it.

## Check it works

1. Open your site with `?pl_ignore=1`.
2. Open the ProductLense dashboard's Live page in another tab.
3. Click around your site: no visitor from you appears.

## Other ways

| Method | Scope |
|---|---|
| `?pl_ignore=1` or the switch | One browser, all pages of the site |
| IP exclusions in Settings → Exclusions | Everyone on an office or VPN IP address, dropped on the server |
| [`data-exclude`](/docs/track/exclude-pages) | Paths such as `/admin/*`, for every visitor |
| `window.__pl_disable = true` before the script | One page, set from your own code |

The script also sends nothing on `localhost` unless you add `data-dev="true"`, and nothing from automated browsers.
