Mixpanel is event-based product analytics with deep funnel, retention and flow reports, free up to 1M events a month. ProductLense is cookieless web and revenue analytics: it reads your billing provider and shows which acquisition channels bring customers who pay and keep paying.

Where Mixpanel is better
Mixpanel’s event analysis is deeper than ProductLense’s: flexible retention, flows, cohorts on any property, session replay, feature flags and experiments, with a free plan up to 1M events. For in-product behaviour analysis by a product team, Mixpanel is the stronger tool.
- You need deep in-product event analysis.
- Your product team lives in funnels, flows and retention on custom properties.
- You need session replay or flags in the same tool.
Where ProductLense is better
ProductLense starts from acquisition and money. It records first touch on every visitor without cookies, reads payments, refunds and fees from ten billing providers, and shows revenue, profit, CAC and payback per channel plus net revenue retention by channel. Mixpanel does not join billing data out of the box.
- You need to know which marketing channel pays you.
- You want revenue and refunds from billing, not hand-sent events.
- You want a cookieless script with no consent banner.
ProductLense vs Mixpanel: questions
- Can Mixpanel show revenue by acquisition channel?
- Mixpanel can chart revenue properties you send on events and break them down by UTM properties you also send. It does not read billing providers directly, so refunds, renewals and fees need your own pipeline. ProductLense reads them from the provider and attributes each payment to the first touch.
- Should I use ProductLense and Mixpanel together?
- If your product team already relies on Mixpanel for in-app behaviour, keep it, and add ProductLense for acquisition, revenue and profit by channel. Use the same user id in ProductLense’s identify and Mixpanel’s identify so a customer can be looked up in both tools without mapping tables.
- Is ProductLense cookieless when Mixpanel is not?
- ProductLense never sets cookies or local storage on visitors. Mixpanel’s JavaScript SDK stores its state in a cookie by default and can switch to local storage. With ProductLense most sites need no consent banner, which also means no visitors missing from your numbers because they declined.
- Which is cheaper at 10M events?
- ProductLense Scale covers 10M events for $149 a month. Mixpanel is free up to 1M events, and its Growth plan price for 10M comes from a calculator on its pricing page, so check their pricing for your volume. Mixpanel counts in-product events; ProductLense counts pageviews plus custom events.
- Does ProductLense do retention analysis like Mixpanel?
- ProductLense shows net revenue retention cohorts split by acquisition channel, months 0 to 12: which channels bring customers who keep paying. It does not offer Mixpanel’s behavioural retention on arbitrary events. For product usage retention, Mixpanel is the better tool; for revenue retention by channel, ProductLense is.
